About Wild Spelks

Newcastle’s Wild Spelks release their scuzzy pop-rock single ‘Turn It Around’ on 27th October 2020 via Montgomery Records.

The brainchild of Jonathon Sabiston (guitar, drums, bass, keys, vocals), Wild Spelks was borne out
of a desire to create a musical project without compromise, writing and recording all the parts himself.
Recorded in a cramped spare room in his Newcastle based flat, the new single perfectly encapsulates Wild Spelks’ sound.

‘Turn It Around’ was written about the post panic attack blues, when you want to assure those around you that you can cope, that you can turn the anxiousness around: “Set on a long car journey, the track deals with the ups and downs of trying to deal with anxiety, with an over-riding positive message that things are looking up and are going to be okay.”

The track’s atmosphere matches its lyrics, with sweeping guitar riffs and booming drums underpinning a rousing, bittersweet chorus.

‘Turn It Around’ follows Wild Spelks debut release ‘The Happy Places’ earlier this year, which
premiered with Clash Magazine, as well as many UK radio plays and support from BBC introducing. Wild Spelks have live dates lined up for the beginning of the new year, playing alongside North East rising stars, Jango Flash and Hector Gannet.
